The Woodward House is our most elegant choice for your stay. Each of the 16 spacious guest rooms has a private bath and is distinctively decorated with individual character. There are four upscale suites - all have fireplaces and three have whirlpool tubs. There is an aura of elegance and comfort in every corner. A living room/lobby area with a fireplace, library, and kitchen, welcomes guests to this upscale bed and breakfast inn. The full kitchen is available for our guests to use while staying at the Woodward House. Situated on a knoll overlooking the property, is the historic mountain Lodge. The welcoming character of the spacious lobby area, with the warmth and comfort of a huge river stone fireplace, hardwood floors, beautiful wooden decor, and new large wormy chestnut bar area with large screen TV, makes it the perfect gathering place for socializing. Elegantly appointed furnishings let you know you are staying in the nicest accommodation available at Highland Lake Inn. As the only stand-alone suite on the property, you can be assured of having your own private hideaway surrounded by pine trees and rhododendron. You are welcomed inside by the inviting dining room and sitting room. The heavily carved four-poster bed in the separate bedroom invites you to curl up for a nap on the deep, rich comforter, in the middle of luxurious pillows. The bedroom also boasts a whirlpool tub for two positioned in front of a gas fireplace (which can also be viewed from the adjoining living room). Relax by the pool or play in the meadow in one of our family-friendly Historic Poolside Cottages. Two of the cottages, Waterlily and Periwinkle, are dog-friendly. A 2-night minimum stay is required and weekly stays are highly discounted. Each cottage, while completely renovated and updated, retains its historic feel. When you choose one of our Garden Hamlet Cottages, you can enjoy the farm animals and their peaceful pasture. These accommodations face inward toward a pasture filled with goats and donkeys, flowerbeds and gardens, and are also near the critter barn. The cottages themselves are of the old style, with porches and courtyards. Less than five years old, each of these cozy dwellings is appointed with custom features and rich, natural materials. Our wonderfully cozy and most affordable cabin rooms come complete with front porch swings. Recently renovated, each building consists of two units: a Large and a Small cabin room, which can be rented separately or you can take both sides of the cabin and open the adjoining door to accommodate a family or small group.
